What is Expressive Arts?
There are many forms of art that can be used during an expressive arts experience and you do not need to be an artist or have artistic talent. The end result is not what you have created but what you experience during the process. Engaging in the art can connect you with your inner self. It may provide you with a new perspective, a feeling of calmness and ignite your creativity.
Research has proven that engaging in expressive arts has both positive physiological and psychological benefits. Self-expression achieved through creation of an art form, promotes communication, socialization and intellectual stimulation.
Expressive Arts employs many art forms such as visual arts, writing, music, movement and drama to assist in self connection and expression. As a facilitator, I create a comfortable, safe space so clients can explore on their personal journey of discovery and self-expression without judgement, through ‘play’.
You do not need to be an artist or even artistic to reap the benefits of Expressive Arts, but just a desire to enjoy, have fun and connect with your creative self.
